The Solothurn Society of Natural Sciences (Naturforschende Gesellschaft des Kantons Solothurn (NGSO)) wants to facilitate the access to knowledge in natural sciences to the general public and to support and promote the works in natural sciences within the canton.

From November to April, the NGSO organises open lectures on topics regarding the field of natural sciences, technology and medicine in the natural museums of Solothurn and Olten. The lectures are given by excellent speakers and in a didactic way. The "Mitteilungen der Naturforschenden Gesellschaft" is the journal of the society and is published every two to three years. It’s content is focused on works either concerning the Canton of Solothurn or written by persons from Solothurn. In order to promote the interest of the youth for natural sciences, high school theses about natural sciences are also published in the "Mitteilungen".
